The Ava Pearl is one of the most advanced high-speed catamaran ferries in the country, entirely geared towards offering business class level service. She offers an exterior sundeck or plush climate-controlled interior with both booth and airline-style seating (more legroom than even first class, though). The Ava Pearl was purpose-built for the Rhode Island - Martha’s Vineyard route in 2012, and is equipped with a refined hullform and MDI Trim Tab Ride Control System to ensure a smooth, comfortable ride in most any sea-state.
The Ava Pearl can carry 150 passengers, but has enough seats for over 230! We often ride close to or at full capacity, but you wouldn’t know it with all the open seats… you’re in for a comfortable ride!
The ferry ride takes approximately 95 minutes; however, this can vary depending on weather and tide conditions! We begin boarding 15 minutes prior to departure.
Tickets are available for purchase on our website, at our terminal in Quonset Point, or onboard our ferry. Reservations are highly recommended and should be can be made online or over the phone.
For tickets purchased in person: Our ticket agents will print your tickets out for you.
For tickets purchased online or over the phone: After completing your reservation, you will receive a confirmation letter and itinerary via email. After presenting your photo ID, our ticket agents will be happy to print your tickets out for you in our Quonset Point ticket office.
Our seasonal ticket office is open from May-October and our hours vary depending on our schedule. Please call us at (401) 295-4040 to see when our ticket agents are available to answer questions or make reservations.
All tickets purchased are non-refundable; however, we understand that plans may change! So, tickets may be modified for any trip on any date in the year in which they were purchased, as long as there is available space. Just give our office a call at least 24 hours before your departure time, and our ticket agents will be happy to make any changes to your reservation, for a $15 modification fee. You can also opt to go standby for no additional fee.
If you want to use a ticket on a different date/time than what you originally intended, and don’t want to pay the modification fee (or it’s too late to!), then you are considered on stand-by. This means that as long as there is enough room on the trip you’re interested in, you can use your existing ticket at no additional fee. You will most likely have to wait until all ticketed passengers have loaded before we know whether or not there is availability, but our ticket agents will be happy to give you a good idea of your chances!
All of our passengers ages 60 and over are eligible to purchase a senior ticket and all children ages 12 and under receive a further discount. For individual ticket prices, please see our Schedule and Rates page!
We love having children of all ages travel with us, but because of space limitations strictly enforced by the US Coast Guard, our policy is that all children require a Child ticket. The age limit for children is 12 years and under.
Absolutely! Group discounts are available for many of our trips (15 or more passengers traveling together). Please call our office and ask to speak to our group manager about rates and possible blackout dates.
